Aligned Energy is an infrastructure technology company that offers colocation and build-to-scale solutions to cloud, enterprise, and service providers. Their infrastructure allows them to deliver data centers like a utility—accessible and consumable as needed. By reducing the energy, water and space needed to operate. We were hired to design the lighting and control systems for their 118,000 square foot facility in Plano, Texas “Talon I”. Our design concepts were then incorporated into a larger 500,000 square foot facility in Phoenix, AZ “Talon II”.
We designed for an integral astronomic time clock allowing independent event control for each sub area for both Talon I and Talon II. We designed custom RGBW LED modules that populated both the FOH areas as well as the lighting for the Data/Pod areas. We designed all of the lighting to be managed by a computer based whole building system which regulates all of the automatic functions of the lighting system as well it integrates with the overall management system. The lighting is connected to a centralized system with DMX control. An astronomical time clock emulates the time of day from 2700K to 6000K which is in sync in all areas of the Administration Areas. We designed custom indicator lights above the doors located on the outside of the Private Conference Rooms. These lights are being controlled with two signals: The lights are illuminated “green” when the rooms are unoccupied and “red” when occupied. In Security areas we provided native multi-protocol interface for digital communications with BAS and we provided system feedback for remote monitoring of lighting and control status. We designed a BMS system to send a signal to the control system which will trigger the lights to turn to red and strobe if someone is entering an unauthorized area. Simultaneously, an alert will be sent to the facility manager.
